One of the first posts I did was a tour of my home. In the den Marley’s room, The Capt. made a wonderful window seat that turns into a hide-a-bed.

I told you that I would be posting how he made the window seat at a later date, so here it is!

When we bought our house, the previous owners left their couch. It wasn’t my style or color but it was a good quality Ethan Allen couch that had the most comfortable hide-a-bed in it. It is a queen size mattress with springs and thick enough that you don’t feel the bar across the middle.

We decided to take the couch apart and just keep the bed and cushions. I knew just what I wanted to do with them.

In our den, we have a big window looking out to the front yard and I wanted to put a window seat there.

We searched for some shelves to go on either side of the window and we found the perfect ones on clearance at Lowes.

The Capt. built a box out of MDS to hold the hide-a-bed frame and we painted it to match the color of the shelves.

I wanted this room to be kind of retro, so I bought some designer fabric on Ebay to cover the old couch cushions.

This is one of my favorite rooms in the house and we get so many complements on our window seat. I love the fact that this room becomes an extra bedroom when we have a house full of company.

And since we have had Marley, he has taken over this room. I just put a cushion on the back of the bench and it is a perfect window seat for him as well. He lays there and looks out the window to see what is going on.

He doesn’t even have to give up his window seat when the bed is opened.
