I am sure that most of you know by now that JCPenney’s changed their price structure and how they run their sales. We all had to endure those lengthy screams on their commercials for weeks before they made the change. But, did you know that they now run deep discounted sales on every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month?
I had been hearing about the great deals that people have been getting and chomping at the bit to see if I too could score some of those fantastic deals.
On Good Friday I found myself with a little extra time on my hands, before my company was to arrive, so I quickly ran over to the mall closest to me with great anticipation, wanting to be one of those lucky ones to
brag show off get in on some of those great deals. But, just as I had suspected, the JCPenney’s at that mall was a small one and there weren’t any deals worth writing home about. Oh, they had lots of sale items, but I wasn’t looking for a sale. I was a thrifty shopper looking for a bargain! I went home empty handed that day, but I told myself that I wasn’t going to rule JCPenney’s out yet until I tried one more store, a bigger store in a more populated area.
Friday morning, as I sat on the couch, sipping my tea and reading some of my favorite blogs, I got a call from the Capt. He had forgotten his work cell phone and he said that if I were to bring it to him, he would treat me to lunch. Well, I’m not one to turn down a free meal offer, so I quickly got dressed, grabbed his cell phone and hopped in the car for the 50 minute ride to his office. Now usually when this happens, that’s right, this isn’t the first time that I had to take his phone to him, I hit the outlet mall while I am there. But this time, I realized that not only was it a Friday, but it was the 1st Friday of the month, so I decided to check out the big JCPenney’s that happens to be right there as I exit the highway. Not being all that familiar with the layout of this particular store, I wondered around a bit until I finally found the clearance racks. They were located in different areas of each department and they were mostly off season clothes. There were signs posted on each rack ranging from $2.00 and up to $10.00 and up. I began digging through each of the racks, hunting and searching for that ever elusive bargain. I moved from department to department and then circled around to look again, just in case I missed something the first time around. My diligence paid off! I did not find a lot of things, because like I said, most things were off season and nothing that interested me, but I was able to score enough to be able to deem it a success.
Check it out:
The Capt. can always use more pants so I was pleased to find these dockers for $10.00.
This colorful T shirt for $3.00 will be great for this summer.
I was looking for some tops to take on our cruise in January and this red Southpole shirt for $4.00 will be perfect.
Now, I know this tank top for $6.00 wasn’t that great of a bargain, but I really needed one and I got such a good deal on the other things that I could justify getting this too.
So my total rang up at $24.61.
I am glad that I decided to check out a larger JCPenney’s store before I wrote them off. I hear that the 3rd Friday generally has more stuff than the 1st, so I can’t wait to see what bargains await me on May 18.
