A CHALLENGING YEAR

2014 is going to be a challenging year, I can just feel it!

First of all, I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do as far as my blog was concerned.
Last year I had decided that I wasn’t going to blog as often, and after the newest iOS upgrade in October, I didn’t blog at all. You see, I do all of my blogging on my iPad and the WordPress app has completely changed due to the upgrade and I got so frustrated with it that I just gave up. At that point I had made up my mind that I was done with my blog for good.

Even though I haven’t posted anything since October, I still get people liking my Facebook page. This has been a huge encouragement for me and I have started to rethink that decision.

So, after praying about it, I have decided not only to keep my blog, but what direction that I want to take it in.

Life is full of challenges and so I am going to start off the year talking about the challenges I am faced with.

My biggest challenge right now is to use my MacBook Air. The Capt. bought it for me last Christmas thinking that I would use it for everything and we could get rid of the old, slow PC.

I must admit, I was more intimidated to use it than I thought I would be! I took a class at the Apple store and that gave me the boost that I needed.

After getting OfficeMac and Print Master Gold for Mac, I have been doing more with the laptop. I no longer do our budget on the PC, I now budget and pay bills with the Mac. I also make my cards and other crafts on the Mac.

Even though I am writing this post on the iPad, I plan to learn and post from WordPress on my laptop from now on.

What are some of the challenges facing you this year!

Sunday Social

Hi everyone,

Surprised to see me on Sunday?

I am hooking up with Neely and Ashly for their new “Sunday Social” link-up!

This is a great way to meet new bloggers and learn more about me.

Here are this weeks questions:

How did you come up with your blog name?

I wanted a glorified way to say that I am a thrifty housewife who loves to make things.

What is your favorite thing about blogging?

I am new to blogging so I get super excited when other bloggers leave me comments and better yet, become a follower.

What is one thing you have discovered because of blogging and now cant live without?

It is 2 things for me, Starbucks bottles and monograms. I had no idea that there were so many ways to use them and I fear I am becoming obsessed. I even combined my 2 loves and I will be posting them very soon!

Facebook or Twitter? and why?

Facebook. I don’t know anything about Twitter and I really don’t have the desire to learn. Blogging, Facebook and Pinterest already fill up my day.

If one celeb read your blog who would you want it to be?

John Travolta. I think he is a fantastic actor, a wonderful person and I just know that we would become good friends and then I would have a chance to tell him about Jesus!

What is something you want people to know about your blog?

It is a work in progress. As my knowledge of blogging grows, I hope that my blog will too.

This is going to be a weekly social so come join the fun!

Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Getting To Know More About Me

I am a Florida girl who had been living in the frozen tundra of Western Massachusetts for over 25 years. To my surprise, one day the Captain (because he shares the same name, and position so he thinks, as a Star Trek character) comes home and tells me he wants to move to Florida.  I was delighted and sad at the same time because you see, as much as I wanted to get back to the warmth of the sunshine state where my parents and 2 sisters live, I would be leaving our 4 children and then 4 grandchildren behind.  Well, that was 6 years ago and we are lovin’ it here and though we miss the now 7 grandkids with the 8th on the way, we do get to see them several times a year and when we are not there we either Skype or Facetime with them so that they can stay close to us.

We bought  an older home that was built in the 70’s and was in dire need of updating. The Captain and I did all of the work ourselves and one by one updated every room in the house.  I will post some before and after pictures so that you can check me out  check out my style get an idea of all of the work that was involved.

About Me

I am excited about my new adventure. I am a cheap housewife thrifty lady of the house that loves the Lord, all things decorating, getting together with family, and spoiling my Boston Terrier.  I have a passion for DIY projects, anything thrifty, and I am addicted to Pinterest.  I am in awe of all of you fabulous ladies out there that have these wonderful blogs dedicated to the art of decorating on a budget and raising a family. I hope that I can not only live up to your standards but also have the opportunity to get to know some of you.

Welcome To My New Blog!

Hi everyone, I have finally started my blog. Yay! I have been lurking around the blog land for over a year now so I figured it was time to take the leap. Please excuse the appearance, hopefully the look and feel will improve with my knowledge and experience.
