A Successful Family Vacation

Our family vacation was a big success! We all had so much fun and it was so good to see our kids and grandkids interacting with each other.

I want to share with you some of the highlights of the trip:

We all met at the Chase Suite Hotel in Rocky Point the night before the cruise.
My parents, sister, brother-in-law, and niece came to visit us there. What a wonderful way to start our family vacation!

The hotel shuttled us over to the cruise port in Tampa and we were able to check in and board the ship without any problems or long lines. We were able to relax on deck while waiting to get into our cabins.

It was fun seeing everyone all dressed up for “Elegant Night”

Our first stop was Grand Cayman Island. There were several ships in port that day. The Capt. stayed with Amie, Fred and the baby. They decided to walk around the port and check out the shops, but I don’t have any pictures of that.

Celia, Derek and the boys went to Seven Mile Beach and then shopped a little.

I went with Shye, Jim and their kids to swim with the stingrays and snorkel at a reef. I would highly recommend Duncan Stingray City Adventures to anyone interested in visiting the stingray sandbar.

Our next stop was Cozumel. We all decided to take a taxi to Paradise Beach for the day. When we asked the kids what the highlight of their trip was, they all said Paradise Beach!

We celebrated several birthdays on the ship. Celia and Fred were served individual little cakes and the waiters sang ” happy birthday“.
We had a birthday party for Connor, who turned 5 on the 11th and Emily who will be turning 14 on the 17th. The waiters also brought Connor a piece of cake and sang “happy birthday“.

I designed a group Tshirt that I ordered through Vistaprint and we all wore them to the birthday party.

We had a fun day at sea. The kids played with their souvenirs, played on the water slide, entered a talent show, just hung out, and of coarse, ATE!

Family Vacation

January 2013 is finally here and our Family Vacation starts this weekend.

We are taking a five day Western Caribbean cruise with stops at Grand Cayman Island, Cayman Islands and Cozumel, Mexico.

Most of us have cruised before and for some, it is not their favorite thing.
What is exciting about this cruise is that we will all be together, as a family.

Our family members are spread out from the South to the Mid West to New England so it is not very often that we can all be together.

So, we decided that we would make it a point to plan a ” Family Vacation” every 3 or 4 years. I like how my brother-in-law’s family has a reunion every other year and someone different is in charge of making all of the arrangements each time, so that is how we decided to manage our get togethers.

I planned the first family vacation, which was held at Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire. I was in charge of picking a date and location, finding a place for all of us to stay and planning the activities.

The last day of that vacation, we got together and chose the person to be in charge of the next Family Vacation. It was decided that the oldest of our 4 kids should plan the next trip.

This cruise is only the 2nd of many vacations to come. We realize that as time goes on and families grow and life happens, that not everyone will be able to make every Family Vacation, but we look forward to seeing and visiting with those who can attend.
