October is gone, and with Halloween behind us, we look to November.
November reminds us to be thankful!
It is so easy to get caught up in the hype that these last 2 months bring, leading up to the Holidays, that we forget what it is really all about.
We need to make a conscious effort to stop and think about what we are thankful for.
Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:20 ESV
And we need to praise God for all that we are thankful for!
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! Psalm 100:4 ESV
In the midst of a crisis, we sometimes blame God, instead of looking to God.
It is often hard to be thankful when you are surrounded by devastation. My heart goes out to the people effected by this storm and my prayers are with them. And I am reminded that we are to:
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV
As we are called to give thanks for all that God has done for us and given us, we are also called to share with those in need.
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:16 ESV
There are many different ways that we can give to those who have lost so much in the wake of this devastating storm.
We can make a cash donation to the Red Cross
We can donate food to Feed America
And we can check Fema’s list of Charitable organizations
The Bible says:
Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:4 ESV
If everyone would follow this sound teaching, there would be more joy and less depression around the holidays!
If we start off this Holiday season giving thanks to God and putting the needs of others before our own…
We will end the season full of Joy!
These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. John 15:11 ESV
Have a blessed weekend!
